A very classy video about a massage therapist by filmmaker Lucinda Chrisman. The narrative is rich, and the pacing, shooting and music match the subject perfectly.
We recently signed up a new partner that is starting to bring us a ton of orders for acupuncture videos. These are all small business profile videos done in the normal TurnHere style. We wanted to highlight a couple acupuncture videos we have already completed to give you some idea of how other filmmakers handled the subject matter. I like their holistic approach: shots of the needles only make up part of the overall video. On these shoots, always make sure to find out what the advertiser wants to highlight (and include that info on the pre-shoot checklist.)
Here's one by Alan Tone:
They’re an excellent technique when
there’s “no b-roll" (there is always b-roll!)
They
allow you to get several shots quickly and without moving the camera very far.
Sometimes you can just punch in with your zoom for a matching close-up!
Rather than focus only on new orders, I thought we'd call out the filmmakers who have delivered the most Free Videos so far in March:
1) Nick Snobl
2) Suzie Vigon, Frank Fradella, Troy Gattis (tie)
3) John Williams, Jill Leger, Braden Barty, Albert Hedgepeth (tie)
Thanks for the great work in delivering the videos (so we can in turn deliver them to the customers). The Free Video program is ongoing, so keep the new orders (and the produced videos) coming in!
I love how editor Bob Sickles starts this video about a sushi restaurant. Lots of fast editing cut perfectly to music and the nat sound crack of the chopsticks breaking apart.
Great way to begin a video -- it shows that you don't have to immediately begin with a soundbite.
And the video of the week goes to... Bonnie Ernst for her Central Coast Vineyard Team video!
She did a great job covering this vineyard's story of making healthy wine while being environmentally conscious. The landscape shots really show what this vineyard offers! I'm ready for a healthy vineyard SIP!
Great work Bonnie! We'll be sending you a $50 Amazon gift card for having the Video of the Week. And one more thing about Bonnie: we've worked off and on with her for the past 4 years -- she goes
back to the days when we were making travel videos, and first got our
attention when she submitted the Nitt Witt Ridge video.
We'll be adding a couple dozen new tracks to our music library over the next week or 2. Some of them have gotten rave reviews -- hopefully you'll find them useful in your TurnHere productions.
Filmmaker Anna Faiola did an excellent job on this attorney video. Nice shooting, smooth pans, lots of people shots to give it life. I love how the piece opens up with the professionally shot exteriors, then the statue shot, then the document shots cutting to a sequential wide shot of the attorney at the desk as his assistant walks in. Great work Anna!
How can you not enjoy watching this video? The owner really showed his story and enjoyment of his job. And the children are skilled karate kids! I think it worked out well that the filmmaker used his camera at the childrens eye level, getting a good angel of what should be displayed in the video to help promote this business. Nice!
Check out these great tunes and creative minds on this video! Unfortunately it doesn't always happen on a shoot, but looks like this guy's personality helped enhance their video and filmmaker Ernie Topran let it flow with some great b-roll and easy pans.
Did we ever mention that TurnHere loves small businesses? Yes! And so does this company. This filmmaker, Greg Mocker, did a great job creating this video for a company that helps launch businesses. Unfortunately there was not much for Greg to work with, just one small room to shoot an interview and b-roll, but it was creatively put together. This is a great showing of what you can do when there is not much to work from and very little b-roll. Check it out!
We are in the video business, not the flyer business. However, I think our marketing team did a fantastic job on this full-color 2-page flyer packed with information about the Free Video program, the benefits of web video, what the customer gets, etc. It is up to date and includes the top sites we post the video to for free during the 3 month trial. I think this flyer is best suited to be emailed when you contact businesses who might want a web video. You can also print it in color or grayscale if so inclined.
